Consumption during pregnancy and lactation:
FDA pregnancy category B.
It is not known whether pantoprazole is distributed into breast milk.
Common side effects :
1-Those indicating need for medical attention:
Incidence less frequent or rare:
Anaphylaxis, angioedema, chest pain, dyspnea, erythema multiforme, gastroenteritis, hyperglycemia, infection, jaundice fyellow eyes or skin), optic neuropathy, anterior ischemic (loss of vision, suddenl, pancreatitis, speech disorder, Stevens-Johnson Syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, urinary tract infection.
2-Those Indicating need for medical attention only if they continue or are bothersome:
Incidence more frequent:
Diarrhea, headache.
Incidence less frequent or rare:
Abdominal pain, anxiety, arthralgia, asthenia, back pain, belching, blurred vision, bronchitis, confusion, constipation, cough increased, dizziness, dyspepsia, flatulence, flulike syndrome, hypertonia, hypokinesia, insomnia, migraine, headache, nausea, neck pain, pain, pharyngitis, rectal disorders, rhinitis, salivation increased, sinusitis, skin rash or Itching, tnnltus, upper respiratory tract Infection, verdgo, vomlung.
Common side effects of drug interactions:
Pantoprazole, by increasing gastric pH, has the potential to affect the bioavailability of any medication for which absorption is pH dependent Also, pantoprazole may prevent the degradaton of acic-abile drugs. Ampicillin esters or Iron salts or ketoconazole (pantoprazole causes prolonged inhibition of gastric acid secretion, and thereby may
interfere with the absorpton of these medications and others for which bloavailablity is determined by gastric pH).
